Preparation for the Georgia Milestones
In April, all third graders will take a Math and ELA/reading test called the Georgia Milestones. Third grade is a benchmark year for reading, which means that all third graders must pass the reading section to be promoted to the fourth grade.
We will be doing some test preparation during the next few months, so that students will be accustomed to the format and content. On Tuesday, Jan. 31st, all third graders will take a reading diagnostic test that will mirror the format of the ELA Georgia Milestones test. Teachers and the administration will analyze the results to give your child targeted instruction on their areas of growth.
Cool Tools
Every Friday, a half-sheet of paper called "Cool Tools" is sent home with your child. This is a part of our school-wide PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) initiative. Please make sure that you are reviewing this with your child. Also, please sign it and send it with your child to school on the first day of the following week.

Wednesday, Feb. 1st - deadline for Young Georgia Authors' Writing Competition (optional)
Thursday, Feb. 2nd - Tolerance Character Awards
Thursday, Feb. 2nd and Friday, Feb. 3rd - Reading Diagnostic test for Georgia Milestones
